I thought you gone.
I thought myself safe.
I thought you fled with love.
I thought I packed you carefully away in a box marked "donate."
I thought I tipped that box over the railing into the river.
I thought you had ceased
To mark your grave with bubbles.

And yet here you spring,
Left-handed muse:
Poetry.
Swinging out from under my breastbone
Like some diviner's silk-roped amethyst
Freed by a corset's fall,
Swinging
Like Errol Flynn into
Herzog: wildly inappropriate
And useless to the point of absurd.

But welcome, welcome back, old friend. I
Had forgotten what it was like to miss you.

To me, the idea that the Judeo-Christian god has a lot of publicists who think like Kim-Jon Il's did, that "We must pretend that this entity is the best and most important at everything, and never imply that there is anything beyond his power or knowledge, for reasons we do not have to explain," make far more sense, logically, than omniscient/omnipotent/omnibenevolent. There's probably a Pythonesque sketch in that--- "Oh, Lord, You work in such mysterious ways, thank you for this suffering." "What? What are you ralking about? That's not me! And stop capitalizing my pronouns. It's weird."

In 25 hours, I begin another week of ten days with no day off. So much I should be getting done, but the cat is snuggling my feet...

Playing a stupid little phone game (Gardenscapes, FWIW). The thing that most amuses me about it is the thought that it's pretty clear that the "helper" character, a butler, resents my in-game manifestation so very deeply. I feel like the Emperor encouraging Luke to the Dark Side.
